The map shows the population in different places across Japan. However, instead of showing the population across the country, different regions were broken up and the population density was shown in those areas. This allows us to see which areas are more populated with the darker the area, the greater the population density, and the lighter, the lower the population density. This shows that the north is really not as populated as the south, likely because of the colder temperatures found. (Japan Demographics) Because the population is focused in a few areas, the government can encourage people to live in those areas. If this happens, it leave open more space for farming, mining, and conservation of natural areas.
